Act 2

During an evening time, Beneatha and George came back to home and sat on the couch. George wanted to kiss Beneatha but Beneatha did not want to kiss him. She wanted to have a conversation with George. George was still annoying so Beneatha kicked him out. Mama came back and Beneatha complained to Mama and she said George is a fool. Mama told her do not waste time with a fool. Beneatha was happy about Mama’s support and understanding. Then, Mrs.Johnson came to visit. She is Younger’s neighbor. Mama asked Ruth to give some food and drink to Mrs.Johnson and she accepted. She was here to tell Mama that there was a black family’s home was bombed out by a white-neighbor. She called them”color folks”. She mentioned a famous African-American thinker. Mama was upset. Then Mrs. Johnson left. Ruth was told that Walter did not go to work for three days by the call of Walter’s boss. She asked Walter to explain why. Walter said he was thinking all day and drinking all night. He felt his job was not better than a slave’s job. He felt depressed, unhappy and useless as a man of a family. Mama felt guilty to him and decided to give him the rest of the insurance money. She asked Walter to deposit 300 dollars for Beneatha. Then he got 3500 dollars. Walter became happier and more confident. He told Travis about his plan and he could see the future.
