Review of play--Amy Yang

Amy Yang Review of the play IB Lit & Perf SL Ms.Guarino Tears Of Love On November 15th 2019, I watched a drama, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” in the Black Box at Cheshire Academy. It was written by Simon Stephens. The student director is Olivia Williamson and faculty advisors are Ms.Guarino, Mr.Hunton and Ms.Roller. The main actors are Amelia Williams, Olivia Williamson, William Lempling, Pacifica Yang and Ben Goth. This production talks about a  series of stories about fifteen-year-old boy with autism,Christopher, and his family. The play started with a dead dog in the center of the stage and Christopher was next to the dog. Mrs.Shears, the god owner, was so upset to Christopher because she thought Christopher killed the dog and she called police. Then an interesting story began. Fall play scene notes P4-6 There is a dead dog. It belongs to Mrs Shears. Mrs Shears is upset to Christopher because she thinks Christopher killed the dog. Christopher has autism so he is acting differently than a normal person. Then the police comes. Christopher just tells truth but there are some misunderstanding between the police and him. Then he is arrested by the police. Siobhan is his teacher. P12-15 Ed is Christopher’s dad. He knows his son is getting in trouble. But he tells Christopher to not caring this dog anymore. Christopher wants to find out who killed the dog, but Ed stops him. Because Ed does not want Christopher to get in more troubles. Therefore, he wants Christopher just to leave it. Then, Ed tells Christopher that his mom is sick and she is in the hospital. Ed does not allow Chris to visit his mom. Christopher talks to his teacher Siobhan about al things that happened. Reflection of poem performance--Amy

In Lauren, Mia and Conner’s performance, they reflected the different attitudes of americans in the two scenarios, which emphasized the theme of this poem—African americans are citizens of the United States. In the first scene, when Lauren receives her friend to have meals at home, Conner, an African American, also wants to have dinner with her. However, Lauren's attitude clearly shows the unfriendly treatment towards the African American played by Conner. She asks Conner to have dinner in the kitchen. This is a main point which shows the background information of the second stanza of the poem. Then, in the second scene, Lauren receives friends to have dinner at home, but Conner makes a different action. He stops Lauren's command this time, moves a chair and sits down to have dinner with them. This expresses the third stanza and last sentence of the poem.
