I read over my essay yesterday and figured out some problems. Actually my second draft was not a complete essay. I missed at least one more paragraph and one conclusion, so that was the main part I worked on yesterday. Based on the suggestions from classmates, I fixed my essay for the context, own feeling, quotes and several parts. The most difficult part for me is to describe the meaning of the poem. The poem has only one main idea, except this I could write nothing. So it made me wrote some sentences that have the same meaning. I deleted some similar sentences. I hope it works better now. I think it’s easier for me to write about my own feelings, because this poem impressed me a lot and I feel empathy with the poet. My strengths in this essay is that I wrote something that left people to think about it. I chose a poem that everyone could have different thesis to this poem. The weaknesses part I think is to let the quotes contribute to the thesis. This poem has repeated stanzas, so the quotes I can exploit are really limited. I do not want to use the same sentences for several times so it seems like I use few quotes. I will work on my paragraphs if I have more time. I will write more details and let each sentence makes more sense. I think I could get points on “post it on time, creative title, conclusion leaves readers with something to think about”. I probably will lose points on “sentences are of varying lengths, conclusion strength the argument, ideas are analyzed but not summary”.
