First draft of poem

 I think the poem tries to make people reflect that people need to cherish what they have right now, and do not lose it. The overall tone of this poem is regretting, ruminating and sad. This poem makes me feel the same empathy, because when I read the poem, I could relate to my own experience. It talks about that someone maybe  broke up with his girlfriend, and then noticed that he still loves her. I like the poem because I have the same feeling with the author and he is saying the truth. Especially there is a sentence like "Only know you've been high when you're feeling low. Only hate the road when you're missing home." That's the main sentence that make me feel really empathy with the poet: when I study abroad, I start missing home.

 There are some repetitions. “You only need the light when it's burning low. Only miss the sun when it starts to snow. Only know you love her when you let her go. Only know you've been high when you're feeling low.” The theme of this poem is cherish what you have and do not lose them. A boy breaks up with his girlfriend, and feels really sad about that because he notices he still loves her after they broke up. The poem tries to remind people that they don't know how important something is until it's lost.

She did not believe she can help people. She did not want to talk about equality for African-American anymore. She started to complain and concern about human misery.
